DEAR YULETIDE WRITER, FALL 2018

DEAR YULETIDE WRITER, hello hello, thank you so much for writing for me this yuletide season! I am already so excited to read it!  So without further ado, my requests:

 

[1] FBI (TV 2018): Maggie Bell, Omar Adom “OA” Zidan

 

I am all of two episodes into this but I am nothing if not a sucker for serious law enforcement procedurals where mere tens of seconds of personal conversations get doled out once per episode, if we’re lucky.  I would love something on OA’s undercover time, what was it, where was it, how was it? Or how OA and Maggie met, how they became partners, what their partnership was like before the death of Maggie’s husband, how their partnership has changed after it.  Case fic, post-show fic, seeing them decompress from the tension of the job fic.  Do they hang out outside of work, do they never hang out outside of work, is it weird for them to see each other in non-FBI work clothes?  Do they kiss, are they purely colleagues, do they ever get mistaken for a couple?  What was their time at Quantico like?

 

[2] Imposters (TV): Max (Imposters), Sally (Imposters)

 

What I loved about these two was that they seemed to have a long, slightly bumpy history, and they obviously cared for each other as humans but they also definitely had periods where they were not so fond of each other.  I would love anything from their past, from the pre-Maddie days or from the early-Maddie days, (how did they meet, what were the jobs like pre-doctor, how things changed with him running the show, what a typical con was like, if they ever had to be married for cover, if they ever tried to have other romances, outside of the job), or even from the moments we didn’t see throughout the course of season one.  Also (spoiler spoiler spoiler), anything post-series—what would they do when they were free of the doctor, and how would they come to terms with the people they had to become to break free? 

 

[3] The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (TV): Miriam “Midge” Maisel, Susie Myerson

 

There was a moment in the first season of this show where both Midge and Susie are wildly hungover in bed and talking on the phone together and that is the moment I realized I wanted them always to be either wildly hungover, or talking on the phone, or together.  I love how hard comedy is, and how hard Midge has to work to be good at it.  I’d love to see more of everything that has to go into that, set after set at clubs, both in and outside of NYC, Midge and Susie roadtripping to link some kind of tour together, finding motels with only one bed.  Susie is so protective and supportive of Midge and it’d be cool to see that dynamic flipped, with Midge having to be the one to be there for Susie sometimes, too.  Or, secret-keeping, yearning, for each other or for other people, drunken shenanigans, getting in fights.  
 

[4] South of Broad - Pat Conroy: Molly Huger, Leopold Bloom King, Chad Rutledge

 

Molly Huger in this book was such a delight to me—she both did and didn’t do everything I wanted her to in such a hugely satisfying way.  I’m not mad she ultimately stayed with Chad, I am just very hungry for what her story might have been like, if she did everything differently.  What if she stayed with Leo in high school, just a little while longer, what if she didn’t get back with Chad so quickly?  What if she and Leo had more than just a one night stand as adults?  What if they never did, and just kept their flirtation going, for longer?  What if she left her husband?  Or: what if she, Chad, and Leo had a threesome?  Or: what happened to her, after the book?  I’d also be interested in the events of the book from Molly’s eyes, or from Chad’s, or something more focused on Leo’s and Chad’s relationship, tenuous as it was, both as teenagers and as adults. 
 

General likes: I like ship fic!  I like people being friends!  I like people being enemies!  Mutual pining, fake dating, first times, breakups!  Snowed-in AUs, holiday party AUs, living a life of crime AUs!  Angst!  Porn!  Fluff!  Fancy dress!

 

General dislikes: Noncon!  Violence against women!  Misogyny, internalized or otherwise!

 

Miscellaneous other things: Feel free to incorporate things that are happening in canon, for the couple of shows that are airing currently (assuming Amazon drops s2 of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel sometime this fall, Amazon, why so cagey), or alternatively, feel free to go AU from a set episode.  I am at heart a multi-shipper and ship every pairing that I’ve requested but if that’s not your thing, no sweat, I really do love gen too.  Also, if you have a fic in your head that’s totally different from any of my prompts, please go for it.  I love these fandoms and I love these characters, and I’m going to love anything you write, I promise.
